Trail Life USA

Who We Are

Christ-Centered, Boy-Focused, Church-Based mentoring and discipleship journey that speaks to the heart of a boy. Trail Life is established on timeless values derived from the Bible and set in the context of outdoor adventure. Boys from Kindergarten through 12th grade are engaged in a Troop setting by male mentors where they are challenged to grow in character, understand their purposeserve their community, and develop practical leadership skills to carry out the mission for which they were created.

Adventure is at the heart of the Trail Life USA program. Boys love hiking, camping, fishing, tree-climbing, story-telling, and s’mores around campfires. Weekly meetings are designed with that in mind. Held outside whenever possible, meetings are designed to delight the raucous, rowdy, unruly nature of a boy. Trailmen engage in hands-on experiences that develop character, deepen faith, and hone practical skills in the seven program branches (Outdoor Skills, Life Skills, Heritage, Hobbies, Values, Science & Technology, and Sports & Fitness).

Troop Meetings and Events

Troop PA 2417 will be meeting every other Monday during the school year.  Meetings are from 6:45 pm – 8:30 pm, at Murrysville Alliance Church, in the Fellowship Hall.

The Troop will also have monthly “Hit the Trail” events where a variety of activities will be held such as: Hikes, Trips to Museums or Heritage Sites (Memorials/Battlefields), Service Projects or Fun Activities.

Dates, times and locations of these events will be announced during meetings.

Service

An important part of Troop PA 2417 is engaging in various service projects in the community.  These projects sometimes occur during or in place of our “Hit the Trail” events.

Examples of projects we have done or are currently involved in include:

  • Maintenance and improvement at Lessig Riddle Cemetery in Delmont.
  • Wreathes Across America.
  • Work days at the homes of individuals who have a physical need or are older adults.
  • Work days at local Christian camps or organizations.
  • Hosting National Day of Prayer, prayer walks and clean up days at the Westmoreland Heritage Trail.
